She had her last concert of the year a few weeks ago. It was so cute. She was supposed to be singing on stage, but instead just giggled the whole time! She could not stop giggling with her friend. It was too funny. Here she is giggling with her friend and another one with flowers from Grandma.

Also, at the end of the first grade year, there is a special night called "Poetry Night" when the kids recite a poem or two that they have memorized. It was the most adorable thing I have ever seen! Mattie memorized two poems and had to stand on a stage and speak into a microphone to recite her poems. She worked very hard the last few weeks not only memorizing the poems, but reciting them slowly and with lots of expression! Every child in her class did a great job!

The last day of school was bitter-sweet. I was definately NOT ready for the year to be over and for Mattie to NOT have her wonderful teacher anymore. She was just amazing with the kids! By the way, Mattie is wearing a medal around her neck because her school had a "Fun Run" to raise $. Each lap was 1/8 of a mile. (It just happened to be 92 degrees and very humid that day!) Mattie came home that day saying that she ran 12 laps! That would be 1 1/2 miles!! I talked to the lady in charge and she confirmed that she DID run 12 laps and tied with a boy in her class. (supposedly the fastest boy in her class)! She also said that they shortened the time from 30 minutes to 15 minutes because of the heat. My Mattie ran 1 1/2 miles in 15 minutes!! Wow... she must take after her Aunt Jodi! Aren't you proud Jodi?
