California Trip

Gosh, where do I begin! We had such a wonderful vacation visiting our family in CA. The first few days were relaxing days by the pool hanging out with Grammie, Opa, Jess' sister and brother and their families. It was so sweet to see the girls bond with their CA cousins. They probably bonded most with Carter b/c he was the oldest and could really "play" with them. He was into just about every sport there is. He had tennis rackets, baseball, golf, and basket ball. The girls had fun shooting hoops with him!

Grammie and Opa have a beautiful pool and hot tub that the kids were in EVERY day! Since being there, Mattie has learned to jump off of a diving board and Morgan has learned to swim under the water

Opa, God bless him, spent 5 long hours putting together an adorable play house for the kids to play in. Thank you Opa! The kids LOVED it! Grammie even put real flowers in the window box of the play house! It was too cute! There was also a sand and water table for the kids to play in.

The girls got to see the ocean for the first time! That day Aunt Mugga got to come with us! It was SO good to see her again! We had a great time at the beach. Mattie LOVED it and Morgan was afraid of the huge waves. Morgan mostly played in the sand. They both brought home some shells and sand.
Then, of course, we went to Disney! The girls LOVED it! We got to see Sleeping Beauty's castle, we got our picture with Minnie Mouse and enjoyed several rides! While we were there, there was an earthquake! We were watching the Splash Mountain ride and it was about to go down the hill, but it got stuck at the top of the hill! We didn't feel anything b/c we were walking. We wondered why several of the rides were shut down for a few minutes. We later learned that there was an earthquake! Opa's house got hit much harder than we did at Disney. Pictures were crooked on the walls, a potted plant fell into the pool, things fell off of the counter in the bathroom etc.. There was no real damage, thank God!

While there we got to see several cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, grandparents and great grandparents, some of which traveled hours to see us! Thank you! There were several family BBQ's and Opa became a master on the grill! The last night we were there we got to spend some special time with the great grandparents. Grandma and Grandpa Peters and Grandma and Grandpa Brown. It was great to see them after two years!

Overall we had a wonderful time! We only wish we could somehow be closer to our CA family so we could do these things more often! It was a blast! A VERY special thank you to Grammie and Opa for being such wonderful hosts! It was a busy week, but an unforgettable one!
